External Wall Insulation Installation

Professional installation of BBA-approved EPS/XPS systems for optimal energy efficiency.

Our Installation Process

Home before EWI installation

1. Initial Assessment

Our technical team will assess your property to determine the most suitable insulation system. We'll consider your wall type, local climate conditions, and aesthetic preferences.

During this stage, we'll also provide a detailed quote and timeline for the installation process, as well as calculate the potential energy savings based on your current wall performance.

2. Preparation & Installation

We'll prepare the external walls by cleaning and ensuring they're structurally sound. Any necessary repairs will be completed before installation begins.

Our skilled installers will then fix the insulation boards (EPS or XPS) to your walls using our specialist adhesive and mechanical fixings, ensuring a secure and even application.

Applying render coat to insulation

3. Base Coat & Reinforcement

A layer of basecoat is applied over the insulation boards, and an alkali-resistant mesh is embedded into it. This reinforcement layer provides strength and prevents cracking.

After the basecoat has dried, we'll apply a primer to prepare the surface for the final render coat, ensuring optimal adhesion and longevity.

Finished EWI installation

4. Finishing & Quality Check

The final decorative render is applied in your chosen colour and texture. We offer silicone, acrylic, or mineral renders, all of which are breathable and weather-resistant.

Once complete, our team will conduct a thorough quality check to ensure the installation meets our high standards, and we'll provide you with all necessary documentation and aftercare advice.

Benefits of External Wall Insulation

Energy Savings

Reduce your heating costs by up to 40% with our high-performance insulation systems, which significantly decrease heat loss through your walls.

Our Grey-EPS 80 E boards achieve λ-values as low as 0.031 W/m·K, providing exceptional thermal performance.

Improved Comfort

Enjoy a more comfortable living environment with stable indoor temperatures year-round. EWI helps eliminate cold spots and drafts.

The insulation also provides acoustic benefits, reducing external noise penetration for a quieter home.

Building Protection

EWI acts as a protective shield for your property, defending the structure against weather damage and extending the lifespan of your walls.

Our systems help prevent damp and condensation issues by maintaining wall temperatures above dew point.

Aesthetic Transformation

Refresh your property's appearance with our range of decorative finishes. Choose from various colours and textures to achieve your desired look.

Environmental Impact

Reduce your carbon footprint by lowering your energy consumption. Our insulation systems help decrease CO₂ emissions from your home.

Added Value

Increase your property's value and improve its Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, making it more attractive to potential buyers.

Building Regs Ready

Compliant with Building Regulations

Our external wall insulation systems are designed to meet and exceed the requirements of Approved Document L 2025, helping you achieve compliance with the latest building regulations for energy efficiency.

All our systems are BBA-certified and meet BS EN 13163 standards, ensuring they deliver the performance and durability you expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does EWI installation take?

The installation time depends on the size and complexity of your property, but typically takes 2-3 weeks for an average home. We'll provide a specific timeline during your initial assessment.

Do I need planning permission for external wall insulation?

In most cases, EWI falls under permitted development and doesn't require planning permission. However, if your property is listed or in a conservation area, you may need approval. Our team can advise on your specific situation.

What thickness of insulation do I need?

The required thickness depends on your wall type and desired U-value. For most properties, we recommend 90-120mm of EPS or 70-100mm of our Grey-EPS for optimal performance. Our technical team will calculate the ideal thickness for your specific requirements.

How long will the EWI system last?

Our BBA-certified systems are designed to last 25+ years with minimal maintenance. The silicone renders we use are highly durable and resistant to weathering, maintaining their appearance for many years.

Can EWI be installed in winter?

Installation can be carried out year-round, but certain weather conditions may affect the application of renders. Our team will schedule your installation during suitable weather conditions to ensure optimal results.
